Gig Information

Tāmaki Makaurau noiseniks REPAIRS are touring across the motu this April and May to celebrate the release of their new album “Disappointing Sequel”! In a wonderful coincidence, Aotearoa emo legends Carb on Carb are also going on tour to promote their new album “Take Time”!

The two bands are combining forces for a joint release show at Wine Cellar on Friday 17th May.

Joining them on the night are good friends (and killer live bands) Household Spirits and Family Band.

What to expect:

REPAIRS

"REPAIRS blend their noise rock foundation with sharp lyricism, showcasing their prowess in their craft. The driving force behind the band's sound is both loud and immediate, underscoring the punk rock essence which permeates their songwriting." Destroy//Exist

“I think what Repairs are doing here is something else. This music stands up on new terms that are this bands alone. It’s complex, loud, critical, current, and brilliantly executed.” Muzic.net

Carb on Carb

Carb on Carb are a product of many places. In the band’s lifetime they have been based in 4 cities and played in at least 70. Recorded at the now demolished Munki Studios in Wellington, the band’s first and self-titled album was “noisy and heartfelt, bridging the gap between 1990s emo bands like Rainer Maria and current counterparts like Waxahatchee” (Mess + Noise). Relentless touring won over fans across Australasia and the band temporarily relocated to Australia. This time away drew the band’s focus back to home with their celebrated second album For Ages; an extended love letter to NZ, and “overall an album that leaves you feeling oddly more upbeat about life in general” (The Soundcheck). More recent single ‘Be My Mirror’ received recognition further afield; described as “bouncy indie pop territory before turning into an explosive rock song” (Brooklyn Vegan) and “bright and yearning and catchy and two minutes long, and it rocks” (Stereogum).Their next album Take Time (out May 2024) on the other hand was written entirely at home and ruminates on time; looking forward and backward to triangulate the right place to be in the present. First single 2009 is the starting point.

Family Band

Formed in 2023 while all three members were flatting together, Family Band take influence from Chicago noise rock and late 00's Trans-Tasman post-punk. In their short time together Family Band have become one of Tāmaki's favourite live acts supporting cult favourite international talent Worst Vibes (AUS) and Liturgy (USA).

Household Spirits

Improvised drone from drummer/percussionist Steve Cournane and everyone’s favourite venue owner/noise maker/absolute legend Rohan Evans
