The Hectet bring you a night of melodious and grooving electroacoustic jazz music, to celebrate the release of their debut album, Here Comes The Hectet, off the back of their recent Australian album release tour.
They will also be playing unreleased selections from their recently recorded follow-up album, French Politics, across two sets of original compositions by Hector McLachlan. The music of The Hectet draws from a wide pool of influences, reflecting an open and ambivalent attitude to genre that has given it a unique and broad appeal.
Hector (piano, synth) is a pianist and composer from Te Whanganui-a-Tara who has played across Aotearoa and the world with acts like Revulva, Salvia Palth, Rachel Andie, The Unknot, and The Teskey Brothers. He has also released an album of electronic music on US cassette label Become Eternal.
Joining him are three Pōneke demons: Phoebe Johnson (double bass), Jasper Holloway (guitar), and Abe Baillie (drums), as well as very special guest Lily Shaw (saxophone).
The Hectet aims to please, and they can't wait share their soulful and expressive stylings to their home audience.
