Weekly Round Up: Friday 9th October

Friday 9th October, 2015 2:40PM

Tour news is a bit of a mixbag this week. Death Cab For Cutie announced they will be returning to New Zealand for two shows in February. British wordsmith Kate Tempest is bringing her lyrical storm to these shores for two January dates. Country stalwart Lucinda Williams has announced a one-off Auckland performance for the end of the year. Boy & Bear are jumping the ditch in February for a handful of shows off-the-back of their third studio album. Dunedin psych-pop group The Shifting Sands are kicking off a five-date album release tour this weekend. In festival news, Mac DeMarco let spill that he is joining the line up for the inaugural McLaren Valley Festival in the new year. And the first two international acts were revealed for Womad 2016.

In release news, former Yumi Zouma vocalist Kim Pflaum has released her first official single under the moniker Madeira. Out of the blue Jonathan Bree unveiled an eerie Simon Ward-directed video for his single 'Murder', lifted off his forthcoming album A Little Night Music. Stink Magnetic signees The Dobermen unleashed a surf-tinged track as they gear up to release new album Cemetery Circuit next week. Auckland haunted-core trio The Moonlight premiered their self-titled debut album (out officially today), which is being supported by a nationwide tour. Doprah popped up with a brand new song titled ‘Zi’. Looking further afield, we copped a brand new video from The Brian Jonestown Massacre, who will be on these shores in a matter of weeks. And Beach House dropped the news they are releasing a new album next week, hot on the heels of their recent effort Depression Cherry.

This week's Caught Live is Lontalius with a lovely live version of 'Light Shines Through Dust' tracked up at Radio New Zealand studios....
