Weekly Round Up: Friday 18th December

Friday 18th December, 2015 4:24PM

Even with xmas just around the corner, things didn't slow down with some great tours being announced this week!! We were psyched to reveal that lo-fi garage legends The Mummies will be visiting these shores in March for the first time ever. Also in March, legendary singer-songwriter Steve Earle will be visiting Auckland with his backing band The Dukes. Detroit rapper and Stones Throw signee Guilty Simpson will be popping over for a couple of performances in late January. Oustanding Scottish trio Young Fathers have lined up a mid-January show for Auckland following the cancellation of Echo Fest, as which they were set to appear. February will see Jose Gonzelez return to New Zealand for one performance at the St James Theatre. And Gillian Welch will be appearing at The Civic Theatre in late January with her partner in crime Dave Rawlings.

This week in release news, we caught wind of a fantastic cut unveiled by Ghost Wave as they prepare to release a full-length album titled Radio Norfolk in the new year. Promising Christchurch producer Sabine Wojnar let loose a four-track EP which pricked up our ears with Madlib-esque opening track 'Empty Glass'. And from the same neck of the woods, Salad Boys rolled out a previously unreleased tune called 'Devotion' along with a new EP of earlier demos. Auckland's Shab Orkestra shared their goose-bump raising new song 'Offering' which has been printed to 8-inch lathe cut vinyl available now. And The Naenae Express lifted the lid off their debut five-song EP for streaming. Further abroad, David Bowie shared the second single from his upcoming album Blackstar. And Thee Oh Sees blasted out a mind-melting a new cut destined for 7-inch release in the near future.

This week's Caught Live is Missy Elliott and Pharrell Williams performing 'WTF' live for the first time on the season finale of The Voice in America...
