Cult figure Kid Congo Powers has announced his first ever New Zealand shows along with his band The Pink Monkey Birds. The legendary musician and style icon, who has done time with the likes of The Cramps, The Gun Club and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, is coming to these shores on the heels of releasing his new album La Arana Es La Vida which is out now via In The Red Records. Get greasy in the psychedelic swamps of rock ’n’ roll with Kid Congo & The Pink Monkey Birds! A founding member of The Gun Club and erstwhile guitarist for The Cramps and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, the legendary Kid Congo Powers has garage punk swagger in spades. Few musicians play in one cult band, Kid has played in three. He makes his first trip to New Zealand with long-term cohorts The Pink Monkey Birds for a night of raw, sonic ambrosia featuring a heady mix of fuzz guitars, New Orleans drum beats and bass lines dripping with soul, not to mention also dipping into tunes from the Cramps and Gun Club. And referencing the Gun Club - Kid was a founding member of that special group, performing at both their first and last shows.

His new album La Arana Es La Vida is available now through In The Red Records.

Joining Kid at the Auckland show will be Thee Rum Coves and The House Of Bamboo.
