Listen: Mr Amish - Thoughtless Inhalation

Thursday 23rd June, 2016 1:19PM

Wellington-based artist Hamish Kyle, who makes music under the name Mr Amish, has released his new stand-alone single 'Thoughtless Inhalation'. The song follows on from the musician's full-length offering The Absurdist that came out back in January, but this new cut sees Kyle in a different frame of mind. Take a listen while you read his explanation below...

"This latest release has appeared after some changes had occurred in my life, the main one was leaving Auckland for Wellington, which has caused many other changes to naturally slip into place. In Auckland, having had grown into such a routine in social circles, I have met a lot of really amazing artists and humans that seem to carelessly walk side by side with me. The habits that accumulate over a few years of excitement in Auckland had started to take their toll, and I found I couldn’t be around my friends as often because of my lack of self control and the (should I say) consistent indulgences of the social circles."

"Leaving the city, I found myself in a new state of solitude, I still have some buddies in Wellington but I naturally formed an Isolation chamber surrounding my lack of eye contact. From this point onwards, always having the ideal in my head that my health and my music was the most important things in my life. So continues the constant quarrel with ones self whether to “indulge or avoid”. I feel that everyone has this decision to make at every second of the day and it is always as important as the next, I guess I made this song to relate to others in their addictions. Mainly having the desire to quit what ever the habit be."
