Seminal Flying Nun band The Verlaines have unveiled a video for single 'AWCWD' as they gear up to release new album Dunedin Spleen next year. The monochromatic clip splices archival footage with footage of frontman Graeme Downes working through the contemplative song, which was penned in late 2013 as an obituary for Obama’s first term. The band then recorded the track in October 2015, as commentary around the current US presidential elections - conveying the message “expect no change”. Downes comments:

“The 'W' in the title is pronounced dubbleya as in the middle initial of the Commander-in-Chief before this one. The office maketh the man or woman, not the other way around, and so the end result will be any war criminal will do.”

Upcoming album Dunedin Spleen follows on from 2012 offering Untimely Meditations and is slated for release in March/April next year. In the meantime, soak this up...
