Mermaidens Unveil New Single 'Lizard' And Announce Sophomore Album 'Perfect Body'
Wellington dream-psych trio Mermaidens have let loose new single 'Lizard' as they reveal details for their upcoming sophomore album Perfect Body. The three-piece, which came together in 2013 as high school friends, released their debut EP O in 2014, which was followed by their first album Undergrowth in early 2016. The upcoming sophomore album sees the group step forth with a refined sound, promising a series of moody riff-based songs that are simultaneously hypnotic and commanding. In a statement accompanying the single's release, guitarist/vocalist Gussie Larkin said of the forthcoming record ...
"While writing the album Lily and I had both been thinking and talking about pleasure and pressure. By that I mean the contrast of being in a blissful state, but with an underlying anxiety or uncertainty being present too.
The album is slated for release on 4th August via Flying Nun, in the meantime listen to 'Lizard' below...
