Premiere: Vallkyrie Unveil Epic Video 'Aztec Breath'
South Auckland RnB / pop crew Vallkyrie have shared a visual extravaganza for their song 'Aztec Breath', drawn from last year's eponymously titled six track collection. Comprised of Rebel Reid (Nga Puhi), Omer Gilroy (Nga Puhi / Ngai Tahu) and Brandon Haru (Nga Puhi / Tainui), the trio's anthemic song explores the concept of revenge, as expressed in the powerful accompanying visuals of director Shae Sterling, showing the band as embodying Papatuanuku (Mother Earth) locked in an epic struggle against a destructive armoured warrior. You might have caught Vallkyrie winning over local crowds at Splore 2018, singer and multi-instrumentalist Reid generously shared some words unpacking the deeper themes of 'Aztec Breath'...
"'Aztec Breath' was written about an ex-relationship. Pretty blunt, but that's the honest truth. However, feelings grew more internal, and in the video we portray Papatuanuku or Mother Earth, and the horned minotaur-like person represents mankind. We dedicate our revenge song to her and all her glory"
