Christchurch's Grand Chancellors Unleash Single 'Buried Early'

Monday 15th October, 2018 12:14PM

Icons of the post-quake Christchurch musical landscape, garage punk trio the Grand Chancellors have unleashed an in-the-red single 'Buried Early' ripped into the digital domain from their self-titled album, which materialised into reality over the weekend for Cassette Store Day. The currently inactive group (featuring members of The Hex Waves and Pro Drag) drew their name from the formerly opulent Hotel Grand Chancellor that loomed ominously over Christchurch's central business district before being demolished in 2012. Their spooky new song tears listeners a new one with trash can drums, subterranean riffage and soulful animalistic yowls. The album is currently only available on limited edition cassette via the esteemed proprietors of independent flag-flyers Stink Magnetic Co., you better snap up the tape asap to get the whole shebang down your earholes.
