Christchurch's The Midimaster Drops Debut Single 'Horse Patter'

Tuesday 16th October, 2018 3:08PM

Christchurch electronic producer The Midimaster aka Jonty O'Connor (Zen Mantra, Zane 2000, Public Freakout, Cold & Flu, Nakey) has unveiled a debut solo track enigmatically titled 'Horse Patter' via US label Primary Music. The beat-driven instrumental single draws in listeners like a moth to a lamp with its hypnotic blend of pointillistic percussion, sliced 'n' diced samples and music box minimalism. The Midimaster promises more tracks are on the way and opened up about the spooky origins of the tune, read his words and listen up below...

"Horse Patter is about my experience being stranded on the motorway on an absolutely pitch black night. I could hear my every step was being followed by a paddock full of horses - the sonorous cacophony of their hoofs hitting the soil made it seem like over 100 purebred Colts were following my lead. This song serves as a sonic recreation of the encounter."

You can catch The Midimaster at Christchurch's Public Freakout Solutions event (venue to be disclosed) on Saturday 27th October with Purpleman, Thiccboi, Downwinder, Adam Willetts and "spicy visuals" by the Burgundy Boys. For more info head along over here.
