Fleetwood Mac Returning To New Zealand In September

Thursday 17th January, 2019 8:56AM

Legendary British-American rockers Fleetwood Mac are returning to Aotearoa for two headline events at Auckland's Spark Arena, and a performance at Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium in September. The internationally revered, Grammy Award-winning group helmed by Mick Fleetwood made headlines last year when our very own Neil Finn announced he was joining the long-running and sometimes tumultuous group, Fleetwood returned the favour by appearing on Neil & Liam Finn's recent album Lightsleeper. These shows will be Fleetwood Mac's first local appearance since their sold-out 2015 visit to New Zealand, and are sure to be a highlight for many in 2019. The band's full lineup will feature Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Christine McVie along with new recruits Mike Campbell (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers) and Finn. Fleetwood shared his enthusiasm about the new roster...

"Fleetwood Mac has always been about an amazing collection of songs that are performed with a unique blend of talents. We jammed with Mike and Neil and the chemistry really worked and let the band realise that this is the right combination to go forward with in Fleetwood Mac style. We know we have something new, yet it’s got the unmistakable Mac sound,”

Press release:

Legendary, GRAMMY-award winning band FLEETWOOD MAC today announced an Australian and New Zealand tour, set to kick off on August 9 with two shows in Auckland on September 16 and 19, along with a welcome return to Dunedin on September 21. Produced by Live Nation, the tour will feature the new line-up of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Stevie Nicks, and Christine McVie along with newcomers Mike Campbell and Neil Finn, and follows the band’s 50+ city North American tour.

Fleetwood Mac was founded by Peter Green in 1967 and was named after Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. After Peter Green left in 1969, Fleetwood and McVie remained as original members, and the band has since featured a cast of brilliant talents. Most notably, Christine McVie joined the band in 1970, with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joining in 1974. The enduring spirit of Fleetwood Mac stands for an incredible body of great music that has connected with generations of people all over the world for more than 50 years. Fleetwood Mac has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and the GRAMMY-award winning band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
