Jordan Rakei Announces New Zealand Shows + Drops Single 'Say Something'

Wednesday 24th April, 2019 11:01AM

New Zealand-born, London-based neo-soul artist Jordan Rakei has unveiled a fresh cut from his upcoming album Origin, and announced two North Island headline shows happening this August. 'Say Something' is bold and upbeat with an energetic drum track, in a similar vein to the album's first single ‘Minds Eye’ which dropped late February. Where Rakei’s 2016 album Wallflower is soul and groove, Origin, due out in mid-June via UK tastemakers Ninja Tune, is RnB and electronic, moving towards bigger, dance-friendly sounds. Catch Rakei live in New Zealand on his Origin Tour, playing shows in Auckland and Wellington…

Jordan Rakei
Friday 23th August - Powerstation, Auckland
Saturday 24th August - San Fran, Wellington

Press Release:

Paint It Gold and Niche Productions are proud to announce that Jordan Rakei will be performing two special headline shows in New Zealand this August as part of his world tour supporting the release of his third album - Origin - out June 14 2019 on seminal indie Ninja Tune.

Since signing to Ninja Tune and releasing “Wallflower”, Jordan Rakei has stamped his authority as a preternaturally talented songwriter, producer and live performer and cemented his worldwide rep as a modern soul icon in the making. New Zealand-born and Brisbane-raised, Jordan settled in London in 2015 and quickly found himself in a network of like-minded individuals, forming friendships that have spawned many professional collaborations.

Soulful, intimate and expansive all at once, Jordan Rakei’s third album, “Origin”, cuts straight to the point, in every sense of the word. The melodies are brighter, the sound is bigger and the vision behind it more finely-tuned. Switching up from the highly personal and intimate portrait he painted with 2017’s “Wallflower”, which was a way of grappling with his experience of anxiety and introversion, “Origin” is overtly inspired by dystopian visions of our future. Having sold out his upcoming show at Earth Hackney in under an hour, Jordan Rakei announces his biggest world tour to date including headline shows in New Zealand and Australia.
