Listen To Karl Steven's Soundtrack Album For 'Come To Daddy'

2019 APRA Best Original Music in a Series winner Karl Steven, known to Tāmaki Makaurau gig-goers as one half of sci-fi duo Queen Neptune, casually revealed a new release late last week, the original soundtrack to Ant Timpson's dark comedy "family romance" Come To Daddy, starring Elijah Wood (Lord Of The Rings). Featuring musicians Ashley Brown, Chris O'Connore, Siobhanne Thompson, Eric Scholes, and Uwe Grodd, Steven's orchestral collection balances knife-edged thrills, intrigue and Bernard Herrmann-esque suspense over seven tracks, interspersed with hard boiled snippets of dialogue from the yet to be officially released film. The synth-inflected 'I Like Fight Stories' has a crackly trip-hop quality, 'You And The Rest of the Greenwood Family Are Now Officially Fucked' transmits notably ominous tones, and the panoramic 'Polaroid' provides a sunny respite from what we image to be a tonne of on-screen mayhem.
