New Order Return With Single 'Be A Rebel'
Who would've imagined we'd still be hearing fresh music from New Order in 2020? Celebrating their 40th anniversary since arising from the ashes of Joy Division in 1980, the incomparably influential UK group have revealed their first single in five years 'Be a Rebel', which was originally due to release earlier this year in conjunction with a North American tour alongside Pet Shop Boys. While those shows are currently on hold due to Covid-19, New Order sound fresh-faced and optimistic in their hook-packed, synth-drenched new song encouraging listeners to embrace difference — with Bernard Sumner in fine voice singing "Take a look at yourself / You may not be the same as everyone else / You’re just different, that’s ok / We all follow our own way".
Bernard Sumner spoke about releasing 'Be A Rebel' during a turbulent year for touring artists: “In tough times we wanted to reach out with a new song... We can’t play live for a while, but music is still something we can all share together”.
'Be A Rebel' is out now on major streaming platforms via Mute.
