Lou'ana Shares Debut Album 'Moonlight Madness'

Annabel Kean / Friday 30th October, 2020 10:18AM

Tāmaki Makaurau up and coming soulstress Lou'ana has unveiled her highly anticipated debut album Moonlight Madness. The three times Pacific Music Award finalist has teased the release with a string of funky, soul-packed singles, and has nailed the timing for a sexy/scary full album drop, including '60s witchy visuals for Moonlight Madness stand-out 'Love Bind'. Listening to the first full-length offering from Lou'ana this morning has filled an Amy Winehouse shaped hole in my heart I didn't know I had, perhaps made all the more powerful with the harmonious occurrence of a full moon Halloweekend, not to mention the deep, personal creation behind the album's title track:

"'Moonlight Madness' is an earthy brew, infused with my Samoan heritage. We used the pate (log drum) on the track, included a Samoan proverb that speaks of the synergy between the physical and spiritual realms, and I wrote a Samoan chant with my Aunty which calls upon the spirit of the moon goddess!"

If you aren't blasting Moonlight Madness tomorrow night, you're doing it wrong.

Lou'ana and her spell-casting hexes brew a love potion (and seemingly experiment with shibari?) in the Anna Duckworth directed video for 'Love Bind'...

Lou'ana's debut album 'Moonlight Madness' is out now digitally and on vinyl via Rageous Records.
