Recently spotted performing at Tāmaki Makaurau's Audio Foundation, Melbourne / Dunedin experimental darkwave duo Ov Pain aka Renee Barrance (Élan Vital) and Tim Player (Opposite Sex) open up portals to otherworldly realms with ‘Excess and Expenditure’, the first cut revealed from their forthcoming second long player The Churning Blue of Noon — set to launch in 2021. A swirling whirlpool of time-dilating electronic drones, clattering percussion, mind-altering saxophones and spectral vocals, the new single crushes skulls while listeners wallow in amazement at the pair's slo-mo gothic grandeur and all-encompassing sonic scope.
