Church & AP Drop 'Happy Song' Ft. DeadForest

Church & AP Drop 'Happy Song' Ft. DeadForest

Annabel Kean / Friday 27th November, 2020 10:28AM

Although Church & AP's 'Happy Song' was recorded way back in the week before Aotearoa shut up shop for Lockdown Season 1, the track is much more suited for release right now. The Tāmaki duo snapped up the prize for Best Hip Hop Artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards earlier this month, on the one year anniversary of their killer debut album TEETH coming into the world in 2019. Since then, Elijah Manu and Albert Purcell have had plenty to be happy about (excluding worldwide apocalyptic events) with almost non-stop hot drops earning them loads of student and commercial radio play and a dedicated following - per social media "this ones for all da zippas who helped us get best hip hop artist at the AMAs". 'Happy Song' is pure pop-rap bliss, featuring Dera Meelan on mellow beats at perfect strutting tempo, and fellow Tāmaki artist DeadForest taking on the intro verse. Speaking of — Dera Meelan and DeadForest take over Whammy Backroom tonight, with support from Aidan Fine, bbyfacekilla and lefthandloz [grab tickets here]. Get a head start on your Friday fuzzies with 'Happy Song', and gather your crew for a stellar night of Tāmaki hip hop...

'Happy Song' is out now via major streaming services.
