Anthonie Tonnon Unveils Video For 'Entertainment' + Announces New Album

Whanganui-based songwriter, activist and historian Anthonie Tonnon has revealed he's got a lot up his sleeve for 2021. The ever-dapper artist has shared today a video for his new single 'Entertainment', an enchanting glimpse of his forthcoming third studio album Leave Love Out Of This, set to launch in Aotearoa this coming July via regular tour mate Nadia Reid's own imprint Slow Time Records. Tackling as his topic the mixed up world of showbiz, Tonnon literally makes sparks fly in the new clip, created by the indefatigable Sports Team crew with support from NZ On Air.

Reflecting on the dreams, compromises and competitiveness involved in navigating our music industry's infamously sometimes treacherous terrain (not unlike a poetic take on Dan Melchior's scabrous 'Blank Magic'), Tonnon is unsparing in his critique yet somehow emerges with his dignity intact. Looking like a vision on a CRT screen, Tonnon keeps his cool in the eye of the storm, riding the synthetic waves of his trusty homegrown Deluge in the clip's uplifting closing passage. Available for preorder now, Leave Love Out Of This was produced by Tonnon's longtime collaborator, The Beths guitarist and producer Jonathan Pearce, who pops up in the video along with an appearance from a/v genius Lady Lazer Light, who has been working with Tonnon on tour...

'Leave Love Out Of This' will be released on Friday 16th July via Slow Time Records (UK/EU/NZ), Misra Records (North America), and Flippin Yeah Records (AUS).
