Kamandi Drops Single / Video 'Sinking But Upwards'

Annabel Kean / Tuesday 31st August, 2021 2:02PM

From their forthcoming EP the Sinking But Upwards Cassette, Ōtautahi-based producer Kamandi shares lead single 'Sinking But Upwards' and self-made multimedia visuals, giving thanks to "mama nature, time and patient friends". Kamandi built their new atmospheric track by recording straight to cassette then working with a slowed down version of the tape, resulting in an emotive, electronic soundscape, a fitting theme to the nature-meets-net video. Featuring the blurry nightlife of the Christchurch city centre intercut with some of Canterbury's natural hidden treasures, Kamandi uses the 'Sinking But Upwards' visual companion piece to layer snapshots of their home base with eye-popping extraterrestrial 3D assets. Keep and ear out for the next Kamandi drop, and in the meantime immerse yourself into this...
