Nothing's fine, I'm destroyed by Pickle Darling's cover of 'Torn', the highly emotional '90s break up banger by Ednaswap — or Natalie Imbruglia, depending on who you ask. Despite the ow ow sad cover track, Pickle Darling aka Ōtautahi bedroom-pop songwriter Lukas Mayo has had an incredible year, which started with bang when they dropped their sophomore album Cosmonaut in May. Mayo and the Pickle Darling band then toured the whole country, featured in our Trash Recital series, made a cameo in The Beths' concert film Auckland, New Zealand, 2020, and most recently reissued their debut EP Spring Onion Pancakes on vinyl for its five year anniversary. But for all the bright and shinies of Pickle Darling's 2021, there are always going to be the moments perfectly encapsulated by belting out 'Torn' like your life depends on it...
