Listen To Birdfeeder's Debut EP 'The Vile Isle'

Chris Cudby / Tuesday 1st February, 2022 12:59PM

Getting their ducks in a row, Te Whanganui-a-Tara's Birdfeeder have uncaged their long awaited debut EP The Vile Isle, tidily wrapping up songwriting sessions that began back in 2017 with 'Ocean Of Sand'. Conceived as a live visual album and "companion project to Birdfeeder's live show The Veiled Isle" (created for independent midwinter arts festival Lōemis), the bulk of the five track collection was recorded in December 2020 by lead songwriter / singer / keyboardist Stephanie Cairns with Josh Harris (drums) and Marley Mokomoko-Young (bass) — carving out their own sonic space somewhere between / beyond Carnivorous Plant Society's instrumental flights of fantasy and Tidal Rave's lyrical musings. The art-pop group will treat punters to "multi-layered shadow puppetry as the band plays behind a giant projection screen" in late February when The Veiled Isle is performed in full as part of NZ Fringe Festival, best prep your ears by hitting play here...
