APRA Silver Scroll Award Top 20 Finalists + Maioha Award Shortlist Announced For 2022

Rammed to the rafters with superstar local talent, the top 20 finalists have been announced for Aotearoa's prestigious songwriting accolade the APRA Silver Scroll Award, unveiled today alongside the top five shortlist for the APRA Maioha Award. Whittled down from more than 300 entries, the Silver Scroll finalists for 2022 were selected by a judging panel of peers, including of Anji Sami, Boh Runga, Cass Basil, Deva Mahal, Gussie Larkin, Haz Beats, Julien Dyne, J.Y Lee, Nadia Reid, Sam Taylor and Sam Trevethick. Celebrating excellence in popular Māori composition, the judges for the 2022 APRA Maioha Award were Matai Smith, Nadia Marsh, Ngatapa Black and Tama Waipara.

APRA members will now have until midnight, Monday 8th August to cast their votes for the top 5 Silver Scroll songs and top 3 Maioha waiata. The winners will be announced at a no doubt glitzy presentation ceremony to be held at Tāmaki Makaurau's Spark Arena on Tuesday 18th October — scope out the list of finalists and refresh your ears with the official Spotify playlist of nominated songs below...
