Old Mervs Announce Debut New Zealand Shows

Deep into the hotly received roll out of their debut EP Get Better, Perth duo Old Mervs are looking to add a pair of bumper New Zealand shows to the mix this April. Since signing to label Dew Process (The Beths, Mallrat) in May and then the release of Get Better late last year, high school pals Dave House and Henry Carrington-Jones have already taken their mellow pop tunes on a sell-out Australia tour and have been on the road since mid January ticking off another massive string of shows on home turf. No doubt by the time the surf-rock two-piece make their way to Aotearoa in two months they'll be a fine-tuned party machine, ready to blow the socks of Pōneke and Tāmaki Makaurau gig-goers. Straight off the back of their huge 'Get Better Tour' around Australia, the Old Mervs boys are raring to take the show across the Tasman this April, celebrating the recent release of their debut EP by hitting New Zealand for the first time. The tour will see the band in their element, soaking up the good times in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland with singalongs galore.

Leading the West Australian surf-rock renaissance, Old Mervs’ relaxed and gracious demeanours belies the rapid success the band have achieved in the space of 18 months; hitting 9 million+ streams, single ‘Cellophone’ tracking over 4.4 million streams, signing to prestigious Australian label Dew Process, sharing stages & touring with Liam Gallagher, The Wombats, Spacey Jane, Death By Denim, The Dreggs & more.

For the two lads, new EP ‘Get Better’ is a memorandum of self-reflection; bringing to life the emotions felt post-high school, when you’re forced to reflect, more deeply than ever, on who you want to be and where you’d like to go. Realising their calling was not the monotony the duo had found themselves in, they crafted ‘Get Better’ in cathartic writing sessions that drew daily confirmations of just where they needed to be: having a blast writing tunes, with the sun setting in the distance.
