Neive Strang Shares Single / Video 'Living In Two' + Announces Nationwide Tour

Chris Cudby / Tuesday 14th February, 2023 9:07AM

Anyone who experienced Neive Strang and band live at last year's Going Global showcase and / or caught them on their I Am The Ribbon tour will be aware the Ōtepoti songwriter is a rising talent who commands attention — in fact she was invited by Shayne P. Carter to be a member of Dimmer's recent touring band. With two EPs and a mini-album already out in the world, Strang moves into her next phase with new single and video combo 'Living in Two', out now along with news of a eight date nationwide launch tour tucked into the weekends of this coming March and April.

Recorded with SJD (Sean Donnelly) and Strang's band — guitarist Jack Wing, drummer Benny Holloway, bassist Oliver Robson and keyboardist / percussionist Jesse Semple — 'Living in Two' is a dream-pop / alt-country slo-mo strummer showcasing the artist's soulful vocal skills, given visual life by Bailey Gardner and Matilda Macandrew, who worked together on directing, cinematography, editing and story duties. Feeling like a hazy summer vision that careens into the carnivalesque, hit play on 'Living In Two' made with support from NZ On Air and don't miss Strang with band at the following dates...

Neive Strang stated 'Living in Two' arose from "feeling really divided in myself. I was both really happy and comfortable in my life but also knew something was missing. This song aims to reflect how confused and torn I was between both feelings at the time, questioning basically everything”.

“Neive is a thoughtful and original songwriter who is also blessed with a great singing voice. She is also an astute lyricist, who has a knack for knowing when space and silence will say more than an excess of words. Backed up by a band of talented and sensitive musicians who know how to support the songcraft on display, adding hooks and motifs of their own and listening to each other in the process. It was great working with them in a studio setting. They were open to new ideas and quick to respond with their own”. — SJD / Sean Donnelly
