Watch 10:32's Animated Video For 'Coffee Shop Girl' - Touring NZ In March

Chris Cudby / Wednesday 1st March, 2023 1:46PM

Delectably addicting yet dangerous to sip on after midday, the humble cup of joe is the communal element around which everything orbits in 10:32's intergalactic latest single / video 'Coffee Shop Girl'. Based in London yet maintaining a strong Aotearoa connection, the future-soul collective of NZ's Bridget Walsh, Lyle Barton and Radovan Brtko are literally jetting our way as I type these words, performing in local venues and coffee shops this March for their single release tour.

Suitably upbeat, infectious and jazz-inflected, the mellow-grooving tune received a joyfully spacey visual treatment, starring the trio busting out cosmic jams to alien java lovers on the galaxy's edge — animated by Dane Jacobs and Lannie Booton, and made with support from NZ On Air. Recent collaborators with Troy Kingi (on their 2021 single 'Seedling') and openers for Six60's sold out London show last year, hit play on 10:32's 'Coffee Shop Girl', and don't miss them bringing the good times at the following dates...

"A coffee is what you drink in the morning to get you started — it’s full of potential — a spark, an energy of looking forward to seizing the day. ‘Coffee Shop Girl’ is our first release from when we escaped to a farm in rural Oxfordshire in 2021 to conjure up a new record. It feels right to start this new 10:32 chapter with that same fresh energy" — Bridget Walsh

Press release:

London-based future-soul collective 10:32 are returning to Aotearoa in March to celebrate the release of their new single “Coffee Shop Girl” off the back of their last single with Troy Kingi and opening for Aotearoa legends SIX60 at their sold-out London show last year.

10:32’s sound draws on influences from jazz, hip hop, breakbeat, house, RnB, and the use of analogue synths, effect-drenched vocals, grooves and breakdowns - think Hiatus Kaiyote, D’Angelo and Erykah Badu. Since debuting at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2018, 10:32 have toured internationally with sessions, shows, broadcasts and festivals in the UK, Aotearoa, Australia and the USA. As well as opening for SIX60, they released their successful single ‘Seedling’ with award-winning artist Troy Kingi - a celebrated EP AEQUUS ANIMUS - and performed at RNZ, Electric Brixton, NZ’s National Jazz Festival and UK's revered Ronnie Scott’s.

While brilliant together, each member of 10:32 also boasts an impressive individual resume. Bridget has been touring with UK bands since 2013 and has performed at Glastonbury, Boomtown, Latitude, Subsonic, Edinburgh Fringe, Cuba Dupa and the Auckland Arts Festival. Lyle Barton (London / piano, keyboard, synths) plays with artists including Emma-Jean Thackray, Matters and Nala Sinephro - and Radovan Brtko (Slovakia / drums, percussion) is a highly sought-after drummer, producer and DJ. “Coffee Shop Girl” is made with the help of NZ on Air.

Catch 10:32 in venues and coffee shops around Aotearoa throughout March in Auckland, Wellington, Raglan, Nelson and Kāpiti.
