Jazmine Mary Unveils New Album 'DOG'
Jazmine Mary shows no sign of sophomore slump on the Aotearoa-based / Australian-born artist's gorgeous new album DOG, the follow up to 2021's Best Independent Debut Award-winning The Licking of a Tangerine. In a freewheeling recent conversation about the new record with UTR interviewer (and regular directorial collaborator with Jazmine Mary) Annabel Kean, the preeminent songwriting talent held their secrets close — yet also revealed, "what I can tell you about this album is that half of it was written after a death, so has a lot of grief. And then the other half was written some time after that, and that moves into hope. So it's always the same things. It's always love and grief and hope and maybe addiction and destruction and seeing things and falling in love".
You would be a chump to miss Jazmine Mary celebrating DOG throughout the nation this July, joined by all-star special guests including Julia Deans, Vera Ellen (solo), fellow Pony Baby bandmate ARAHI and Ha The Unclear (solo). We advise swooping on tour tickets, as the new record is indeed a tenderly executed, emotionally shattering stunner — reminding lonesome souls 'You're Never Alone If You've Got Music' — listen below...
