Beastwars Announce New Album 'Tyranny Of Distance' + Nationwide Tour

Pōneke metal titans Beastwars reemerge from their studio lair with the earthshaking announcement of a new studio album and seven date release tour, taking them nationwide in October and November. Beastwars cover eight of their favourite Aotearoa songs on Tyranny Of Distance, initially sparked by singer Matthew Hyde's love for the Silver Scroll-nominated ‘Dark Child’ by Marlon Williams (written by Tim Moore), and out in full on 13th October via Destroy Records / Universal. Laid down over a period of nine months with co-producer James Goldsmith and support from Panhead Custom Ales, the resulting long player finds the group re-envisioning songs by fellow legends The Gordons, Superette, Snapper, Children's Hour, Nadia Reid, Julia Deans, The 3Ds and the aforementioned Williams — you can preorder your copy HERE.

Leading the charge is first single 'Waves', from Flying Nun trio Superette's 1996 album Tiger. Giving fans a solid indication of what to look forward to from Tyranny Of Distance, 'Waves' feels both familiar and searingly fresh, amplifying the original song's menace to epic proportions, fuel-injected with Beastwars' unmistakable metallic heft and guest vocals by Julia Deans.
