Summer Thieves Unveil New Album 'Cigarettes In Space'

With the crashing down of an appropriately burning indie rock from the deep music cosmos, Summer Thieves today release their latest long player Cigarettes in Space via Loop Recordings. The thirteen-track opus was produced and recorded largely by the group, harnessing additional expertise on some tracks from Matt Sadgrove (Sons of Zion) and Tiki Taane, plus Allister Meffan (Alae) and Connor Jaine (Mako Road). Brand new focus single ‘Bali Nights’ details a holiday in Indonesia in which the five-piece further touch upon the loneliness and disorientation of your late 20s and beyond in their third studio album. Alt-rock guitar and pop percussion flavours help orbit the themes of love and self-reflection, with bass grooves that dip as effortlessly as the craters of the moon in the zero-gravity trance of nights spent out.

The space troopers will jettison off tonight for a free in-store launch party at Auckland’s Real Groovy Records, before landing at Pōneke’s Meow with rapper Will McLean and Tāmaki’s Powerstation with hot shots Park Rd and The Dawns.
