Famed for bringing the Balkan / Latin / dub boogie to the garden city's dancefloors and beyond for the past five years, the festival favourites will be cramming all six plus members on stages across Aotearoa on their forthcoming nationwide tour — commencing in Pōneke this September and taking them right up to the start of summer in sunny Whakatū / Nelson. Experience a taste of what to look forward to in the weeks ahead with their latest single 'Hypervigilante', plus foot-stomping live footage filmed by Adam Hogan of Yurt Party bringing it at their hometown's Flux and gin gin...

Press release:

Ōtautahi street party kings YURT PARTY are taking their irrepressible grooves on the road this spring, with seven shows across the motu to celebrate the release of their debut album.

Yurt Party are a one-of-a-kind musical feast, creating collective joy for over 5 years across Aotearoa. The 6+ piece Ōtautahi band have been electrifying festival dance-floors and winning over the hearts of their audiences with foot-stomping fusions of Balkan, Latin and Dub goodness.

Having built somewhat of a reputation as a live act at venues and festivals in recent years, the band strived to capture that same essence and magic with the new recordings. Their debut single ‘Hypervigilante’ was warmly received in August, and will be followed by an eponymous album, due on September 8th.

With their debut album, Yurt Party, the band distills 5 years of evolution, from acoustic trio to groove powerhouse. Each track captures the intensity, enthusiasm and musicality of the band in their eclectically irresistible style. The tracks on the album were written by various members of the band, who drew inspiration from the Balkans, Cuba and by collective improvisation with each other.

Ain’t no party like a Yurt Party.
