Yurt Party have bottled up their self-titled debut album for us well in time for the start of their nationwide launch tour, commencing this Saturday at Pōneke's Rogue & Vagabond. The Ōtautahi collective have wrapped five years of live shows into a seven track gift (get your copy of their swanky gold foil vinyl LP edition HERE), where their beginnings as an acoustic trio have snowballed into the six-plus festival favourite groove-hitters of today. The improvisatory collaboration of their diverse styles is a truly unique treat for the ears — there are standout folk-like strings, silky keys and brass sections that hit all the way to the bone throughout the inaugural long player. With a sumptuous Balkan texture, Yurt Party present us with a feast of Latin-infused rhythms, swirled around with loving sprinkles of dub and ska.
