Press release:

Taking place on a new date, Sunday 31 March 2024 (Easter Sunday) Morningside Live Block Party will once again take over McDonald Street on the fringe of Auckland city for a night of top tier local tunes, brews and kai.

Co-headlining next year's festival are two of Aotearoa’s finest artists, the jazz infused hip hop of Avantdale Bowling Club & indie rock guitar bangin’ heroes The Beths. Two acts from very different sides of the genre track, who bring their own dynamic and beautifully compliment each other side by side on this stacked lineup.

Having released his second studio album Trees late last year, Tom Scott’s Avantdale Bowling Club, find their truest form live on stage. Blending jazz, hip hop and spoken word, their shows prove artistry knows no boundaries and can evolve in unexpected and captivating ways. The Beths will find themselves back on home soil for Morningside Live Block Party after relentlessly touring the world this past year. Having sold over 20,000 tickets to their headline shows in America alone for 2022, the band have scored legions of new fans. Their 2022 #1 album Expert In A Dying Field was released to a wealth of critical praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Stereogum and more cementing the album as a modern day classic.

To make things even better, joining the two headliners on the McDonald Street main stage will be multi award winning, multi genre musician Troy Kingi. On track to release 10 different genre albums in 10 years, Kingi will be playing a smorgasbord of tunes from his catalogue to date. Grey Lynn hip hop duo Eno X Dirty cross the border and will also take the main stage alongside Papakura rapper Fable. With DJ MU (of Fat Freddys Drop fame) providing the tunes in between sets, the tone will be set for an incredible evening of music.

Returning alongside the main stage is the Big Fan Hot Box – the day club that never stops, from gates open until close inside Joel Little’s BIG FAN.

Featuring a diverse lineup of DJ’s and bands including Dylan C, Pixie Lane, Mokomokai, Dead Forest, Phoebe Rings, Dylan Biscuit and Nito the tunes will be pumping throughout the night in the non-stop party space.

Presented by Urbanaut Brewing, a local brewery brewing tasty craft beers and ciders, the food and beverage line-up is as integral to the event as the main attractions! Morningside is a hub for great food and breweries all of which will be front and centre at The Morningside Live Block Party. Morningcider, Yeastie Boys, Urbanaut are all local breweries that will be serving up delicious cold brews on the day, alongside Major Major who are jumping in to be part of the Morningside fun.

The venues that line the McDonald Street precinct will all play a part in this Easter Extravaganza, Kind Café, Morningside Tavern and Crave Café will all host food and beverage options.

Pay Wave/EFTPOS is now available at all vendors to reduce your time in queues, and increase your time in front of your stage of choice (the event remains cashless).

Eccles Entertainment, Avantdale Bowling Club & The Beths are extremely proud to partner with The Auckland City Mission for the 2024 event with $1 from each ticket sold being donated to the charity who do incredible work in Tāmaki Makaurau.

This year’s event was a complete sell-out prior to show day, and next year is expected to do the same. Tickets are extremely limited, so fans are encouraged to get in quick to ensure they are part of the coolest Block Party in the whole of Morningside. Tickets go on sale Monday 9 October at midday from Ticketmaster.
