Spotlight: Pluto - 'Maybe Twice' Tour of Aotearoa

One of the most iconic Aotearoa groups of the '00s alt-rock era, Pluto's hit-powered second studio long player Pipeline Under The Ocean achieved multi-platinum status when it emerged in 2005. Returning to local airwaves in 2019 with the surprise release of their long thought lost album IV (thankfully recovered from a hard drive disaster, read our interview HERE), Pluto's just-launched single 'Maybe Twice' explores new paisley / psych / grunge territory for the Milan Borich-fronted project — considering "Nietzsche's theory of eternal return" against lush orchestral arrangements and swoony production magic.

Pluto are doing fans across Aotearoa a solid with a full-blown nationwide single release tour, playing long-awaited headline dates in Tāmaki Makaurau, Matakana, Whanganui and Ōtautahi (at both the central city's Flux and Lyttelton's Wunderbar), from late October to early December. They'll be joined at various stops on their spring adventure by Jol Mulholland, Arahi and southern rockers Adam Hattaway and The Haunters (for both Canterbury dates). Regale your ears with ‘Maybe Twice’ if you haven't already and don't miss Pluto's return at the dates following...

"We're excited to get out on tour again and play some of our favourite places — especially Christchurch and Lyttleton! It’s been too long since we’ve played in the South Island. Christchurch used to be our favourite place to play, which is why we’ve added two dates there." - Milan Borich

Press release:

Iconic alt-rock band Pluto share new ethereal psych-rock track 'Maybe Twice' and announce their much-awaited 2023 New Zealand tour, playing intimate venues in destinations spanning from Matakana to Christchurch over their five-date stint.

Responsible for the early 2000's most anthemic rock songs – Dance Stamina and Long White Cross, Pluto’s nascent trajectory has covered the spectrum of the New Zealand musical stratosphere.

Pluto mastered the art of the multi-layered rock sound – sometimes indie, moody and restrained, at other times hook-laden hand-clap pop, often angular, full-energy, anthemic rock. Through the mid 2000’s, Pluto was at their zenith, consistently writing rock songs that traversed the musical landscape combining thoughtful, intelligent lyrics with sonic pop melodies to create evocative, memorable and seductive songs.

Renowned for their live performance, Pluto is one of the finest, most alluring bands New Zealand has ever produced. Book tickets now for their 2023 NZ Tour.
