Press release:

Showcasing a diverse and curated selection of artists at the forefront of alternative arts within Aotearoa and abroad, Port Noise is an annual music festival like no other.

Through collaboration with our community, Port Noise transforms the car park and courtyard that connects three neighbouring iconic venues in Ōhinehou, adding our own outdoor stage, while offering festival-goers the best local cuisine, craft beverages, merchandise and record pop ups, immersive installations, and artist-led micro experiences.

While Port Noise primarily takes place in this central hub, patrons are also invited to a range of unannounced, intimate performances throughout Ōhinehou. Throughout local industrial and heritage spaces, these dazzling, one of a kind performances feature a huge roster of unannounced guests, collaborating and performing in a context that is completely unique to our festival.

After our sell-out debut this year, which cemented Port Noise as Te Waipounamu’s most anticipated alternative music event, 2024 will see an even more expansive Port Noise. By adding a larger outdoor stage, more food vendors, and increasing our ticket allocations and festival footprint, we can host more prominent local and international talent, while retaining the artist and community led feel that makes our festival so distinctive.

In a space curated to embrace the industrial beauty of our hometown, while expanding the limits of what one may expect from a music festival–– we invite both audience and artist alike to come bask in the wild glory of this shared true telling of the self.
