Menzies Touring Debut EP 'Spaghetti Land' In July
A new post-punk four-piece saunters onto Aotearoa's stages: Menzies, a Te Whanganui-a-Tara collective pulled together by some familiar faces. Chris Brown (Friendlies), Miles Sutton (Welcomer, Prizegiving), Nikita Piper (Friendlies, Androgynous Lemon), and Doug Kelly (Doledrums, Girlboss) are set to release Menzies’ debut EP Spaghetti Land on 5th July — mixed by Oliver Devlin (Hans Pucket) and mastered by Vivek Gabriel (Tūī award winner for Best Engineer on Avantdale Bowling Club's self-titled debut album). This foursome is a ripple of sonic energy, having already notched their belts in the Renegade Room at Camp A Low Hum, opened for Aussie visitor Jim Dusty, and supported Welcomer last December.

Press Release:
Menzies release their debut single, ‘8/10’ and announce the release and tour of their upcoming EP, Spaghetti Land, out 5th July 2024.
Menzies, Te Whanganui-a-Tara four-piece, have already gained a name for arresting live performances.
Dancing from weighty post-punk to heart-felt ruminations on childhood, their songs express the wildly relatable.
“Turned up at the Karori swimming pool, and knew I shouldn’t have turned up”
“It cost me twenty bucks, you see, to buy my favourite DVD, don’t judge me, it was Notting Hill”
It’s no surprise the band hits so hard with the experience and passion of the musicians involved - magnetic front-man Chris Brown (Friendlies), Miles Sutton (Welcomer, Prizegiving), Nikita Piper (Friendlies, Androgynous Lemon), and Doug Kelly (Doledrums, Girlboss).
The band brought in Oliver Devlin to mix the EP, and Vivek Gabriel, Gabriel Audio for mastering. ‘8/10’, the first single from Spaghetti Land is a journey through years gone by.
Strung together by the guitar of Miles Sutton, the lyrics wander through places and experiences that feel familiar and warm, with a vocal crescendo that leaves shivers and smiles.
‘8/10’ is available on streaming platforms Friday 24th May, 2024. Touring Te Ika-a-Māui this July, see Menzies live in a place near you.
