Cool Cult and Carb On Carb Announce Joint EP Release Tour

Friday 8th June, 2012 1:19PM

Auckland bands Cool Cult and Carb on Carb both have shiny new EPs coming out in a few weeks  and have announced a joint tour around the North Island to celebrate.

Cool Cult
of course released excellent debut album Try Crunch last year and on June 26th will follow up with a six track self-titled number which you can sample below via first single 'Ayurveda' below.

Carb on Carb is the current focus of Nicole Gaffney (Moron Says What, Mammal Airlines) and James Stuteley (Capsul, Papaiti Records), started by the former and now releasing their first EP  - no body perfect-  on July 1st (stay tuned for  a track in the coming weeks).

See below for tour dates, here's that new track from Cool Cult.

Press Release:

CARB ON CARB and COOL CULT North Island Tour, Winter 2012

When COOL CULT and CARB ON CARB walk past tall trees, birds fall frozen from their branches. This is because the reaction between the two bands is endothermic. It sucks heat from their surroundings to rearrange molecules, leaving a sensation of refreshing coolness. Therefore it’s very good that they're both touring the North Island this winter.

Both COOL CULT and CARB ON CARB stand at the forefront of our current resurgence of progressive and sharp guitar music. They are forever finding fresh means of rearranging old idioms in service to the current and the real. Their music is dynamic, energetic and enlivening and has blown minds across Australia and New Zealand over the last few years, including much raved upon sets at Camp A Low Hum.

CARB ON CARB and COOL CULT include members of a constellation of vital and exciting New Zealand acts, including Grass Cannons, Moron Says What, Mammal Airlines and Hallowe'en. Their names reference dietary indulgence and the occult. To me, these are selling points.

On June 26, COOL CULT are releasing their self-titled EP. Its six songs cover broad territories of noise and energy, evoking the varied topography of Alex, Maté, and Lliam's shared history and influences. CARB ON CARB's EP, "no body perfect", drops on the first of July. It collects songs written over the last four years, started by Nicole and rounded out by James. Those songs will provide the backbone of both bands' tours, come July.
