Godspeed You! Black Emperor played their first ever New Zealand shows over the weekend. In Auckland (and no doubt Wellington) their atmospheric two hour set, complete with crowd pleasing finale of 'East Hastings',  was thoroughly mesmerising both musically and visually. They played circled around a pit of eagerly admired pedals, as old school projectors cast a range of scenes and imagery from black and white film across them

Photographers Alexander Hoyles and Alistar Wickens were charged with the difficult task of capturing the dimly lit show - below is the gallery for the Auckland show and you can view the shots of the Wellington show at The Hunter Lounge over here.
