Press Release:

The Drones to support Neil Young and Crazy Horse in NZ

Alternative rock outfit The Drones have been announced to support Neil Young and Crazy Horse in Wellington and Auckland this March. The five piece from Melbourne have just released the fifth studio album ‘I See Seaweed’ which sees them take the road next April to tour the album throughout Australia.

Loved for their brutally beautiful and uncompromising live shows, The Drones are back on the live touring circuit for the first time in two years, this being the very first time The Drones have ever performed in NZ!

The Drones first formed out of Perth in 1998. They are widely known as one of Australia’s most critically acclaimed bands. In 2006 The Drones were awarded the inaugural AMP (Australian Music Prize) Award for their album ‘Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By’.

The Drones are Gareth Liddiard, Fiona Kitschin, Dan Luscombe, Mike Noga and Steve Hesketh.

I See Seaweed is available digitally and in store independently through MGM Distribution now.

Was excited about going to see Neil Young - but I freakin' love The Drones and this is a truly great line-up now. Saw Mike Noga when he played the Wine Cellar back in January. Told him then he should bring the rest of the band one day. Had no idea it would be two months later.

Really bummed. The Vector concert was originally advertised as Neil Young & Crazy Horse with My Morning Jacket in support. Bought tickets to see My Morning Jacket as much as Neil Young, who I saw at the BDO. Feeling ripped off now.

Sorry - The Drones were crap, and not just in comparison with Shakey, who showed how it should be done.
