Love Thy Neighbour: Archdukes - Soft Focus

Every Monday we'll be swapping tracks with our trans-Tasman pals at Melbourne-based alt-music website Who the Hell. This week they share a new track from Archdukes, called 'Soft Focus'.

"It’s a common view that place often directly informs a band’s sound. For Archdukes, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Aussie four piece Archdukes may have met on the sunny fringe of Queensland, but they make dark and dreamy pop that descends a long way beyond their geographical surroundings. ‘Soft Focus’ is a stark example of the My Bloody Valentine stylings and hazy instrumentals which the band do best. Anchored by driving percussion and stratospheric layers of guitar reverb, the track does its best to seem familiar....but only from a distance. Jim Reid walks."
