Live Photos: Tool - Vector Arena, Auckland

Cult metallers Tool played an outstanding show at Auckland's Vector Arena last night. The first of two headline shows this week - their first since 2011 and fifth New Zealand appearance in total - the band were as tight as ever,  making the live reproduction of their complex songs seem effortless.

Those expecting the frontman of early days were no doubt disappointed as Maynard James Keenan performed from a raised platform at the back of the stage and his (many presume) restrictions on cellphone use which saw people removed from their seats wouldn't have helped endear him further. Despite this,  the masses showed why New Zealand is one of Tool's biggest fandoms and the hordes were well rewarded with an incredible live show - one of the best we have seen in a long time.
