Watch: Leaked M.I.A Documentary Trailer

M.IA is back in the spotlight this week as dramas come to light surrounding the release of what looks to be an amazing documentary about her life. The feature-length documentary announced last year has apparently faced countless legal difficulties and funding hurdles and on Monday, in an attempt to gain attention for the film, director Steve Loveridge uploaded the trailer to YouTube but it was quickly removed by her label,  Interscope Records.

Loveridge has now quit the project, saying he "would rather die than work on this",  but has released the trailer via his Tumbler and it is available to watch below (look out for our very own Mike McRoberts at  4.31 min)

M.I.A. herself has now spoken out on Twitter in support of Loveridge, suggesting that her fans could work with the Kickstarter crowd funding service to help the documentary finally make it to the screen. The film has clearly been "black listed through normal channels", she says, so crowd funding is another option worth considering.  Fingers crossed all this attention helps get this must see film released.
