Press Release:

Madcap Music presents

GOLD PANDA (UK) – 2014 NEW ZEALAND TOUR

Over a short space of time, Berlin-based Gold Panda has established himself as one of the most respected producers in electronic music, having released two critically acclaimed albums, remixed The Field, Bloc Party, and Simian Mobile Disco, all while touring globally, and building a reputation for quality live shows. Madcap Music are excited to announce the return of Gold Panda to New Zealand for shows at Dux Live, on Thursday 27 February in Christchurch, Cassette Nine on Friday 28 February in Auckland, and San Francisco Bath House in Saturday 1 March, Wellington.

Hailing from Essex originally, Gold Panda has been releasing beautifully sculpted electronic music, including Guardian First Album Award winning, Lucky Shiner, and much loved follow-up, Half of Where You Live. This has led to extensive touring, with dates in Australia, Singapore, USA, Mexico, and appearances at the Sonar and Glastonbury festivals. With a schedule like that, it is little wonder Gold Panda’s live shows have become so accomplished, as New Zealand audiences were testimony to earlier this year. Daryl Keating of Exclaim blog had this to say about an October show, “Any electronic artist can set up a laptop and replicate their songs on stage, but Gold Panda adds serious weight to his performance by showing sides to those songs that you never get to see on record”. And this perfectly sums up Gold Panda’s approach, and makes him such an essential live performer, meaning you can expect something different from every show.

2014 NZ Tour dates:

Thursday 27 February - Dux Live, Christchurch
Friday 28 February - San Fran, Wellington Cassette Nine, Auckland
Saturday 1 March - Cassette Nine, Auckland San Fran, Wellington

With special guests to be announced
