PRESS RELEASE:

ZM WITH SEATL PRESENTS ALOE BLACC LIVE IN NEW ZEALAND
The Southern California soul man is back!
ZM and SEATL are delighted to announce the return of the acclaimed Aloe Blacc. With sold-out shows and rave reviews in 2011, Aloe Blacc’s return visit will see him perform shows at Auckland’s Town Hall and the Opera House in Wellington this October.

On his 2010 breakthrough hit ‘I Need a Dollar’, Aloe Blacc’s infectious burst of feel good RnB left everyone keen for more of this timeless soul sound. Off his accomplished second album ‘Good Things’, the single fast-tracked to become a standout landmark for thoughtful American soul craft that year. As the intro song for HBO Show ‘How to Make It in America’, this catchy tune has seen Blacc perform on Later…with Jules Holland, The Graham Norton Show and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Since then this proven gold-selling star has had a busy few years. 2013 saw Blacc co-write and lead sing on world-conquering dance sensation ‘Wake Me Up’, which climbed to #1 in 102 countries across the globe and sold more than 2.8 million copies in the U.S.

Continuing the current invasion of classic soul music, his latest album ‘Lift Your Spirit’ (Blacc’s major-label full-length debut, released by XIX Recordings/Interscope Records) has been receiving plenty of attention and critical acclaim worldwide; an undeniably joyful soul-pop fusion with perfect layers of folk-tinged acoustic elements. ‘Lift Your Spirit’ expands Blacc’s sonic approach by amping up his soulful musicality with a fiery rock & roll energy, razor-sharp hip-hop edge, folk-influenced lyrical sensibility and pop-inspired ease of melody. Paying homage to Elton John’s ‘Your Song’, ‘The Man’ is a sweet soul number that climbed to the top 10 on Billboard’s Digital Songs chart in early 2014 and demonstrates Blacc’s musical adventurousness and graceful grasp of the subtleties at the heart of his folk/soul hybrid.

Having teamed up with top-dog producers Pharrell Williams, DJ Khalil (Eminem, Drake, Kendrick Lamar) and Rock Mafia (No Doubt, Miley Cyrus) to craft his third solo album, Aloe Blacc continues to play his cards right.

“One of the reasons it was so great to work with Khalil is that he understands all the genres that have influenced me, from jazz to folk to Brazilian music to pop, and knew how to help me tap into those influences and make it sound amazing,” Blacc adds.
