Listen: The Vaselines - One Lost Year

Tuesday 17th June, 2014 9:54AM

The Vaselines, the duo who are arguably best known for being covered by Nirvana, are sharing new single 'One Lost Year' as they announce a forthcoming album. The Scottish alt-rock pioneers are set to release V For Vaselines in September via Rosary Music, following on from their 2010 offering Sex With an X, which was the first album proper since 1989 debut Dum-Dum. A bunch of musical pals have been recruited to contribute to V For Vaselines, including Stevie Jackson (Belle & Sebastian) and Frank Macdonald (Teenage Fanclub), but the first single still has strong strains of the music that first caught Kurt Cobain's attention, with hints of 'Jesus Doesn't Want Me for a Sunbeam' bleeding through the bold sound.
