Bastille To Headline Rhythm and Vines + Alps 2014

English indie pop outfit Bastille is the first headline act to be announced for the Rhythm & Vines and Rhythm & Alps festivals in December. It will be the first time the British four-piece have played in New Zealand and follows the success of their 2013 debut album Bad Blood, which has seen the group nominated for four BRIT Awards. They will be performing at the Rhythm and Alps festival in Central Otago on the 30th December before heading northwards to perform at the Rhythm & Vines in Gisborne on New Years Eve. BASTILLE TO HEADLINE BOTH RHYTHM AND VINES AND RHYTHM AND ALPS FESTIVALS IN 2014

Rhythm and Vines and Rhythm and Alps festivals are both very excited to announce their first headliners for 2014, BASTILLE!

London-based BASTILLE have had a meteoric rise to fame since their March 2013 debut album Bad Blood entered the number one spot in the UK charts and achieved platinum status. It started in 2011 when they pressed only 300 copies of their debut single ‘Flaws’ and shortly afterwards the accompanying video scored half a million hits on You Tube. They were quickly signed by Virgin Records, and after only three singles they were selling-out their first headline UK tour before their album was even released.

Their anthemic fourth single ‘Pompeii’ charted at number two in the UK charts and went on to become the second most streamed track of 2013, just behind Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’, and so far holds the record as the song to spend the most number of weeks at number one on the Official Streaming Chart. Their triumphant 2013 ended with another number two UK hit single, ‘Of The Night.'

Their phenomenal success has continued into 2014 and has seen them nominated for four BRIT Awards (British Breakthrough Act, British Group, British Album, Best Single for ‘Pompeii’). The band have recently been touring America and playing festivals such as Coachella and The Governors Ball in New York before touring Australia.

Their appearances at Rhythm and Vines and Rhythm and Alps will be their first ever NZ shows.
