Stream Aphex Twin's Unreleased 'Caustic Window' Album
Twenty years since it was recorded, Aphex Twin's scrapped album, recorded under the moniker Caustic Window, has been revived and is available for streaming online. The Caustic Window LP originally saw life in 1994 in the form of five test pressings, which were given to friends before the album was shelved. But two decades later a copy showed up on Discogs with the modest pricetag of NZ$15,500. Online community We Are The Music Makers decided to try and get their hands on the so-called "holy grail of electronic music releases" by launching a Kickstarter campaign, striking a deal with Aphex Twin (aka Richard James) and his record label Rephlex Records. Thousands of fans chipped in to raise around NZ$77,888 to buy the record, and each pledger gets to keep a digital version, while the rest of us who didn't contribute can now stream the previously unheard record. It is not clear why the 15-track offering was put on ice in 1994, but it definitely has retained its freshness over the decades. Have a listen below...
