Weekly Round Up: Friday 29th August

Friday 29th August, 2014 4:15PM

In tour news this week, we were pleased to announce that Evan Dando is returning to New Zealand with his band The Lemonheads for two mid-December shows. Earlier that same month, Jamaican institution The Skatalites will be visiting these shores for shows in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch as part of a tour celebrating an incredible 50 years as a band. And in local tour news, Hawkes Bay post-rock powerhouse Jakob will be embarking on a six-date nationwide tour through October and November following the launch of their first studio album in eight years, Sines.

In release news, the Purple One aka Prince revealed he will be releasing not one, but TWO new albums in September. One offering is with his new funk-rock band 3rdEyeGirl and the other is a solo record, from which he has already shared single 'Clouds'. A little closer to home, Australian bluesman C.W. Stoneking unveiled a brand new track called 'Get On The Floor',  from his forthcoming album Gon' Boogaloo, out next month through his own label, King Hokum Records. And on these shores,  we got a taste of things to come from new Wellington-based experimental music label End of the Alphabet Records with a track by ETRC. The label's first compilation NoFi Rainbow will be out on 13th September on cassette, CD and digitally.

This week's Caught Live is Wellington MPC musician Estère covering PJ Harvey's "Words That Maketh Murder' at the Aston Road Session...
