PRESS RELEASE:

JIMMY BARNES
30:30 HINDSIGHT
CELEBRATING 30 YEARS WITH AN NZ TOUR
with special guests The Dead Daisies

30 years on and Jimmy Barnes is still rocking! To celebrate this extraordinary milestone Jimmy will be returning to New Zealand for four theatre shows in November. The 30:30 Hindsight tour will see Jimmy Barnes performing in Hamilton, Auckland, Christchurch & Dunedin.

In honour of celebrating 30 years as a solo artist, Jimmy will perform two of his classic albums in full, "For The Working Class Man" & "Freight Train Heart" plus his hits.

Over his 40 year career, Barnes has gone on to become the Australian artist with the highest number of hit albums with 14 Top 40 Albums for Cold Chisel and 13 charting solo albums in Australia - not to mention ten number ones.

His popularity in New Zealand has not wavered, with regular visits here on his always popular summer tours and an impressive chart history. Jimmy has had seven Top Ten albums in New Zealand with his solo work alone & his brand new album "30:30 Hindsight" entered the chart at #20.

This special 30th Anniversary release "30:30 Hindsight" (Liberation Music) revisits some of Barnes’ biggest hits, featuring collaborations with his favourite artists, including Shihad, Jon Stevens, Keith Urban, Bernard Fanning, and Tina Arena. The new recordings are brilliantly complemented by the original hit versions selected from Jimmy’s lengthy and hugely successful solo career.

Barnes explains the thought process behind creating a collaborative album of his own tracks:

“I wanted to do something special for the 30th anniversary… There was talk of a tribute album, but that idea would have taken me out of the picture. So then I thought of a much better idea – I’ll get all my favourite artists and sing with them!”

Barnes’ 40 year career means he is no stranger to the stage, having recently shared the bill with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland.

As successful as his body of studio work has proven so far, what the stats and official accolades don’t show, but everyone knows, is that Jimmy Barnes is primarily a primal live act. Along with all the hit records and anthemic songs, there’ve been literally thousands of live shows. And as the majority of us have witnessed firsthand, there’s nothing quite like experiencing Jimmy Barnes in concert. He never leaves anyone in any doubt of exactly who is, and always has been, the hardest working man in rock & roll. It’s what’s made Jimmy Barnes arguably the most revered and loved entertainer Australia has produced (thank you, Scotland!).

Joining Jimmy in New Zealand is special guests The Dead Daisies. A rock super-group comprised of musicians from the world's biggest rock bands, their live show is not to be missed. The Dead Daisies are fronted by legendary Kiwi singer Jon Stevens, with Richard Fortus of Guns N' Roses on guitar, Marco Mendoza of Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake on bass, Dizzy Reed of Guns N' Roses on keyboard/vocals, Brian Tichy of Whitesnake, Billy Idol, and Ozzy Osbourne on drums and David Lowy of Doc Neeson's Angels on Rhythm Guitar.
