SHAKEY GRAVES
Rollin’ into Auckland for his debut show

One show only this February

“As Shakey Graves, Rose-Garcia plays a gnarly composite of blues and folk as a one-man-band of epic sonic proportions.” – Paste Magazine

“…this is an act that will blow you away with tsunami-like force, and one that’s well on its way to stepping into the most blinding of spotlights.” – Best New Bands

SHAKEY GRAVES is the wild and mesmerizing, Americana one-man-band of Texas, Alejandro Rose-Garcia.

Fingerpicking the guitar, keeping time on a handmade kick drum built out of an old suitcase and singing his raw, unearthly howl, Shakey Graves will make his debut New Zealand appearance when he plays Tuning Fork, Auckland, on Saturday February 28.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Thursday, December 4.

My Live Nation members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sale beginning 10am on Monday, December 1. For complete tour and ticketing details, visit: www.livenation.co.nz

An experienced actor who had a recurring role on Friday Night Lights and appeared in several of Robert Rodriguez films, Rose-Garcia started making music as part of New York City’s “anti-folk” scene. Relying on visceral songwriting and organic sound, Rose-Garcia began producing haunting, lo-fi recordings and an explosive live performance.

His self-released 2011 debut album, Roll the Bones brought him national acclaim and, three years later, still ranks near the top of Bandcamp’s digital best-seller charts. America’s NPR Music named him as one of the ten artists music fans “should’ve known in 2012,” describing him as “astonishing…unclassifiably original. And frighteningly good.”

With his new album, And the War Came (due for a New Zealand release in February through Dualtone / Cooking Vinyl), Shakey Graves extends the ground – emotionally and sonically – broken by his debut.

“I tried to maintain everything I enjoy about recording, the weird homemade aspect, but I was seeking a new, shining sound quality,” says Rose-Garcia.

He remains instinctive and unpredictable, selling out headline shows around America and continuing as a regular on the festival circuit, including SXSW, Hangout Music Festival, Newport Folk Festival and Pickathon. While his shows are based in blues, country and rock, his hypnotic live performances have been compared to that of Jeff Buckley.

This is Auckland’s only chance to witness firsthand the self-proclaimed “gentleman of Texas” and understand the obsessive devotion Shakey Graves has inspired in the hearts of millions.
