Listen: Don McGlashan - Lucky Stars

Don McGlashan has unveiled the title-track from his forthcoming solo album. Lucky Stars started as a raw idea in 2013, while McGlashan was undertaking a writer's residence at the Michael King Writing Centre on Mt Victoria in Devonport, and as a result its 10-tracks contain a lot of personal reflection. The musical style is stripped back and simple, as is evident with the eponymous 'Lucky Stars', but McGlashan explains that behind the simplicity is a lot of thought. "Like a lot of thought has gone into a really good kitchen knife or something made to be used," he says. "That's what songs should be really. You want people to sing them in the shower and to occur to people when they are walking along a beach. And if you're lucky some of them do".
